Minister Akar: It is a fact known by everyone that there is no chemical weapon in the TAF's inventory
Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar received US National Security Advisor Robert Charles O’Brien and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry of National Defense. After the meeting, Minister Akar answered the questions of a journalist about the talks related to the latest situation in Syria and the defense and security issues.
Minister Akar, who emphasized in the meeting that they conveyed all the opinions and demands of Turkey once again, pronounced that:
“Our Operation Peace Spring continues in accordance with our national, spiritual and professional values. Great attention and sensitivity is shown not to harm civilians and innocent people regardless of their religious and ethnic backgrounds, and not to harm historical, cultural, religious structures, infrastructure facilities and the environment as well as friendly, allied country elements that may be present in the region.
We attach great importance not only to the security of our country and our nation, but also to the security of other religious and ethnic groups such as Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Christians, Aramis, Yazidis, and Chaldeans living in the region.
The rapidly changing and developing situation in the region brings with it some problems. We receive information that the terrorist organization, after using chemical weapons itself, will throw the blame onto our Armed Forces and try to create perception. It is a fact known by everyone that there is no chemical weapon in the TAF's inventory. There is also information that, through mass attacks that it will conduct against civilians, the terrorist organization will try to create a perception that the DAESH threat continues in the region.”

Upon a question of the evaluation of the Operation Peace Spring, especially by recalling unreal news in the foreign press, Minister Akar said “In the press, we see a lot of unreal news and images ranging from an aircraft shot down to an explosion which happened in another country but shown as though it happened in the region. They try to cast a shadow upon the sensitivity and success of our Armed Forces in the field with this kind of false news. I once again state that these will not work.”said.
